Pelvic Binder

Multiple pelvic binder devices exist but all serve to apply force through theĀ greater trochanters to close the width of a fractured pelvis, in an attempt to tamponade bleeding from ruptured pelvic vessels.

Currently Footscray and Sunshine campuses carry the SAM Pelvic Sling II device, a simple single buckle device. 3 sizes are available. The manufacturer states the ‘standard’ size fits 98% of the population, with the ‘small’ and ‘large’ sizes for children or large adults.
